Luke is a career recruiter, with over a decade of experience under his belt. Starting out in IT and Banking recruitment, Luke then moved into the Renewables and set up Cathcart Energy in 2013. He has a deep understanding of the Renewable Energy industry and has grown Cathcart Energy to be one of the UK’s most trusted Renewable Energy recruiters.
Cathcart Energy, part of the Cathcart Associates Group, was born from a desire to be able to bring our ethos, our skills and our resources to bear in the Energy Sector. We operate across Northern Europe and are staffed with consultants from each territory we work in to enable us to have both the local network and market knowledge our clients expect.
We know the Renewables sector inside out and understand the specific challenges and opportunities it provides. We consult with our clients to ensure we provide an honest, impartial and knowledgeable take on their recruitment needs.
Our unparalleled network allows us to offer excellent opportunities to candidates looking to enter the sector, or those looking for their next challenge, and we can introduce the best talent in the industry to companies that need to grow their capabilities.
James is a Senior Recruitment professional with a wealth of international experience in the Energy Recruitment industry. His no-nonsense style and unbeatable work ethic has helped build our Energy division into one of the country’s most successful independent Renewable specialists. Outside of work enjoys the mighty Hibs, his endless record collection and cooking on boats.
Hamza is the newest member of Cathcart Energy’s UK team having transferred from a successful career in the Motor Industry. His focus is the Wind Turbine Service Technician market and expanding the company’s client base. Born and raised in Edinburgh as a diehard Hibs fan, Hamza brings an undoubted tenacity and enthusiasm to the table, as well as classic Scottish patter and an addiction to Irn Bru! Aside from football, Hamza has a keen interest in history and has ambitions to write a novel in the future.
Sabrina manages our German renewables business, focusing on the onshore and offshore German wind energy market, and she has built a very impressive client list of Developers, Manufacturers and Consultancies. She brings over six years international sales experience to the team, as well as a relentlessly cheery demeanour. A proud Bavarian, she now splits her time between Edinburgh and Hamburg. Her time in Edinburgh has improved her Scottish immeasurably, and she can now make herself understood even in Leith!
Lisa is a Wind Energy recruitment specialist, focusing on turbine technicians for both on and offshore roles across the whole of Germany. She also covers Energy Storage and Biogas. Dividing her time between Hamburg and Edinburgh, Lisa comes to the renewables industry after a career in plastic, finally seeing the light! In her spare time, she loves restoring old furniture, travelling through Scotland and drinking gin, although not always at the same time.
Sigrid is managing our Scandinavian expansion and divides her time between Edinburgh and Malmö, focusing on Onshore and Offshore wind. She holds an MSc in Organisational Change and Management from Lund University in Sweden, and has a ten year track record in business to business sales and marketing.
Half Scottish/half Swedish, she is honest and direct, with a twinkle in her eye. As the self-proclaimed “hippy” of the team, she loves the guitar and can often be found singing and writing music.
Morgan manages our French business, covering Solar, Wind and Biogas professionals. Originally from Toulouse, he now divides his time between Edinburgh and our base in Lyon. He has a Masters Degree in Business, and after a successful career in sales moved to Edinburgh to celebrate the Auld Alliance and educate the Scots in pétanque. He has strong interest in sports in general and is really proud (probably too much) of the French team become World’s Champions.
Nanna is managing our Danish business, focussing on the Onshore and Offshore Wind Energy industry. After graduating from the University of the West of Scotland, she fell in love with the country, and now divides her time between Edinburgh and Copenhagen. She has a positive "nothing is impossible" attitude, loves reading and is a closet writer.
Sam set up the Cathcart Associates in 2009, and Cathcart Energy along with Gordon and Luke in 2013, growing the business from a small attic room to a global business employing over 40 people across two continents. He is immensely proud of the team, and the company’s reputation as professional recruiter who does things properly.
Having been accused for many years of being “a bit too windy”, Gordon thought it would be a good idea to use his 15+ years recruitment experience to set up a renewable recruitment business with Sam and Luke. Several years down the line and Luke’s business is going great guns, which is quite ironic as Luke also has great guns (photos available on request). They now operate a multinational contract and permanent business with some great long-term partners who are key players in the renewable energy industry. Gordon just does what Luke tells him now.
Bevin has a BA (Hons) in Fashion Business from Glasgow Caledonian University. She joined us following two successful years in London after graduating. Bevin is the Office Manager - managing back office and our social media, marketing and internal recruitment as well as acting as our Client and Contractor Liaison.
As the Office Co-ordinator, Jenny provides a high quality and effective administrative service within the Back Office team. She manages the internal and Contract payroll, (so be nice to her if you need an advance!) organises company events and keeps a handle on invoicing and accounts.
Abbi joins the Cathy Back Office team as our first Apprentice! She carries out a huge host of daily tasks – bookkeeping, filing, writing and posting blogs, managing our social media pages – basically making sure everything gets done. In her spare time she enjoys watching the famous Glasgow celts.
Caroline is the Financial Controller - read "The Boss" - without whom the company would fall apart! No one knows more about how the whole company hangs together, how and how much people get paid and where the light bulbs are kept. She’s truly indispensable.
