‘Developer’ named as most common IT role in UK by The IT Job Board
The IT Job Board have released a new report to categorise the top industry sectors in IT Jobs in the UK. The report identifies 5 major sectors; banking and finance, telecoms, retail, the public sector and manufacturing.
The report covers IT skills and technology trends using the data taken from their adverts from October 2014 – March 2015.
The top IT roles and skills
The report listed its top 5 advertised job roles. ‘Developer’ was named the top IT role in all industries with around 19% of all of their job adverts being linked to this role. ‘IT Consultant’ then came in second, followed by ‘IT Support’, ‘Project Manager’ and ‘Analyst’.
The report also identified the top IT skills advertised on their website. ‘Agile’ came in first place which was listed in 11% of adverts. The other top skills were ‘Integration’, ‘Network’, ‘Security’ and ‘BI’.
Key statistics from the report:
- SQL technology featured in 29% of the banking and finance industry jobs.
- SQL technology expertise required in 25% of retail industry jobs advertised.
- Experience in SAP required in 34% of public sector jobs advertised on the job board.
- SAP was also the most in demand technology in the manufacturing industry, listed in 49% of adverts.
