Average UK salary growth DOUBLES in a month
Yes, the title is correct. Maybe not surprising looking at the theme of our recent blogs!
The latest research comes from Adzuna. They show salary growth for June is 1.7%, compared with 0.6% for the previous month (according to our maths, that's nearly tripled!). It was also the third consecutive month of salary growth.
Not surprisingly, the number of jobs advertised has also increased fairly dramatically - it's not often salaries go up as the number of jobs go down!
They show 839,950 jobs in June, up 2.6% on the period before and 22.3% for the same period last year.
These trends seem set to continue as the rate of response per advert decreases. There was 1.21 applications per job in June 2014, compared with 2.10 for the same period last year.
Unemployment now stands at 6.5% - the lowest for six years.
