Edinburgh is a high-tech hot spot – Digital companies increased by 33%
It’s great news for the capital of Scotland as results from the latest Tech Nation report shows that Edinburgh is Scotland’s technology ‘hot-spot’.
The number of digital companies in Edinburgh has grown by 33% in just three years.
The report is said to be the first major analysis of Britain’s digital technology clusters and shows that Edinburgh provides just over 17,100 digital jobs.
Software development, financial technology and education technology were named as Edinburgh’s strengths. In addition, access to great talent and widespread use of social networks were a strong area of expertise within the Edinburgh digital cluster.
The number of IT start-ups in Scotland overall has increased by over 32% since 2009, going from 4,930 to 6,520.
Not only is Edinburgh a great city for technology – it’s also highly rated as a great city to live! The capital city gets an impressive 97% satisfaction rating from residents.
