June’s windy weather sees record highs for wind turbine generation
Weather Energy by WWF Scotland have reported that a very windy June has caused the wind turbines to generate enough power to supply all of Scotland’s demand and more.
Whilst June was seen to be the biggest month for wind turbines, it is also said that the first half of the year has also really boosted the supply of electricity to the National Grid.
Sam Gardner, acting director of WWF Scotland has advised:
“Scotland is continuing to break records on renewable electricity, attracting investment, creating jobs and tackling climate change.”
“If we want to reap the same rewards in the transport and heating sectors we need Scottish Government to put in place strong policies on energy efficiency and transport in the forthcoming Climate Change Bill.”
The country are now urging the First Minister to put together a strong climate bill that will see other renewable energy sources reaping the same benefits as wind turbines.
