Two thirds think UK recovery at risk due to lack of skilled IT staff
A recent report by The Prince's Trust and HSBC shows that two thirds of UK businesses fear the economic recovery is at risk due to a shortage of skilled workers.
Their research (from 616 companies) says IT is one of two industries in particular that has severe skills shortages. This will lead to issues for over half of British companies over the next 12 months. "Eight in ten business leaders in these sectors believe a significant skills crisis will hit their organisations within the next three years" and over half also reported they are struggling to fill vacant posts right now.
The Prince's Trust charity has suggested employers need to increase their vocational training as a starting point.
