Senior Technical Engineer – Wind Turbine Specialist
Trondheim, Norway
Salary: Contact Us

Cathcart Energy is currently recruiting for a Senior Technical Engineer with specialisation in wind turbine technology, on behalf of our client, one of Norway’s leading wind power companies, to be based at their office in Trondheim.

This is an opportunity to join a pioneer in Norwegian wind energy, who have ambitious expansion plans within the sector, and therefore, we are looking for someone who is keen to share new ideas and contribute to the companies ongoing development.

In this role, you will be the single point of contact for the companys turbine suppliers, overseeing all aspects relating to installation, inspection, control, operation and service of the turbines. As you will be working in a client facing role, you need to be a strong communicator with a track record of building and maintaining long term client relationships.

The role will include (but not be limited to) the following responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for ensuring that all interfaces relating to the turbine supplier are taken care of throughout each stage of the projects
  • Ensure timely and frequent communication with the turbine supplier (Vestas)
  • Assist Project Managers and Site Lead’s with technical clarifications and support related to the turbines
  • Certify that communication between other departments runs smoothly
  • Drafting and implementation of quality controls and optimisation plans for turbine performance and availability
  • Manage and coordinate input from internal and external sources relating to the controls of the plan
  • Perform in field site inspections as needed (elektro, hydraulics, SCADA, control systems)
  • Contribute towards PfO and follow up on full-service agreements

As this role is heavily focused on technical engineering skills, suitable candidates will have a higher educational background in engineering (BSc/MSc) and experience of working within mechanical-, or electrical engineering.

Since this is a key position within the company, the role will require a candidate with between 10-15 years experience working within a technical engineering position, preferably in renewable energy, but experience from another energy-or utility sector in Scandinavia can also be applicable for this role. If you have previous experience from the wind sector, this is viewed as beneficial. The client values previous industry experience, and if you have a network within procurement in the wind industry this is highly valued.

The location for this role is in Trondheim, and you will need to live, or relocate, to the area for this role. The client is happy to accept relocators from other Scandinavian countries, and the company is a local, smaller business with short decision routes and heavy emphasis on team work, which is visible in employee surveys and reviews, and has been named as a ‘Great place to work’. Characterised by its collaborative nature, the company is looking for someone who enjoys working in teams and contributes to a healthy and positive working environment. As a person we believe you are goal- and result oriented, who enjoys a challenging and fast paced working environment.

Candidates need to speak English fluently as this is the language in which communication is held with the turbine supplier. Norwegian is viewed as beneficial, but any other Scandinavian language skill is also applicable for this role. Candidates also need to have a valid driving licence (B), and as there is some traveling involved in the role, both to visit the client and out to site, you need to be flexible and able to be away occasionally.

This is a full-time role of 38.75 hours per week, and the client applies flexible working hours. There is also a generous salary on offer for the right candidate, as well as a competitive pension, holiday allowance and health insurance.
